The Role

As a Defence Procurement Specialist, you will be partnering with ArcBlue’s key Defence Clients in Adelaide.

You’ll be playing a crucial role in the delivery of commercial and contractual advice for a range of projects in Acquisition Projects and Business as Usual Sustainment activities.

You will provide support and advice in relation to procurement methodologies, contracting options and tender development. Services may include, but not be limited to:

  • Assess supply market trends including current and future market capacity and capability
  • Design and develop appropriate procurement methodologies and contracting options (including commercial arrangements) to:
    • deliver an optimised value-for-money outcome
    • mitigate risks
    • reduce costs of tendering to industry and the Commonwealth
    • minimise through-contract cost of ownership
    • minimise the level of management, governance and administration
  • Employ a collaborative approach to engaging industry and employ contemporary performance management
  • Develop associated requirements definitions, business cases, strategies, plans, and tender documentation
  • Lead and assist with, tendering activities, and providing expert advice to Defence during those activities
  • Conduct training and educating Defence personnel in relation to procurement methodologies, contracting options and tender development

About You

  • You will be seeking out a new challenge, new perspectives, new relationships and new experiences
  • You may come from the consulting-world previously, or from within a complex internal procurement environment
  • You will have detailed procurement methodology and contracting experience with both Government and private organisations – including direct experience with procurement activities and designing contracts
  • You will require an active Defence security clearance
  • Defence sector experience is a must, and you will possess a strong understanding of Defence procurement principals, and ASDEFCON suite of tendering and contracting templates
  • You will be a solutions superstar, with the ability to demonstrate a track record of successfully delivering contemporary procurement solutions, with a high level of proficiency in contract management, procurement principles, and complex contract negotiations
  • You will be a team-oriented, engaging and passionate person with a positive mindset
  • You will be a people-person with an encouraging, authentic personality who measures success alongside the success of their wider team

A little more about you

  • A tertiary qualification in procurement or a related discipline will be highly regarded
  • Significant proven relevant experience will be required
  • A Nationally recognized professional procurement accreditation would be advantageous (e.g. CIPS, AAPCM, IACCM)
  • You will be located in Adelaide, or willing and able to relocate to Adelaide
  • At times, you will need the flexibility to work outside of standard hours, or to travel if required
