The Role

As a Defence Procurement Specialist, you will be partnering with one of our key Defence Clients at Victoria Barracks, playing a crucial role in the delivery of commercial and contractual advice for over 15 business as usual work streams, with an approximate annual spend of $243m in Acquisition Projects and Business as Usual Sustainment activities for communication, vehicle, engineering and other specialist equipment.

You will be supporting the drafting and execution of RFT documentation for Materiel, including: 

  • Fire Extinguishers
  • S&Q Software Interfaces
  • Defect compensation
  • Business Case development
  • RFT Support Short development

You will provide supply chain and procurement advice to sustainment and acquisition activities such as:

  • Procurement advice to improvement activities for ADF vehicle fleets
  • Procurement advice to Latent and Fitness for Purpose Defect remediation activities
  • Procurement advice for simple procurement activities between $1m – $12m
  • Drafting Tender and Contractual document development tailored for acquisition and sustainment projects
  • Applying Commonwealth procurement policy to development of endorsed ADF CASG approaches
  • Undertaking assessment and development of heads of liability assessments for major ADF procurement activities.

This position is required to be filled urgently on a fixed term arrangement to the end of December 2020, with possible extensions on agreement of all parties.

About You

  • You will be seeking out a new challenge, new perspectives, new relationships and new experiences
  • You may come from the consulting-world previously, or from within a complex internal procurement environment
  • You will have significant experience in a similar role
  • You will require NV1 security clearance
  • For this role, Defence sector experience is a must, and you will possess a strong understanding of Defence procurement principals, and ASDEFCON suite of tendering and contracting templates
  • You will be a solutions superstar, with the ability to demonstrate a track record of successfully delivering contemporary procurement solutions, with a high level of proficiency in contract management, procurement principles, and complex contract negotiations
  • You will be a team-oriented, engaging and passionate person with a positive mindset
  • You will be a people-person with an encouraging, authentic personality who measures success alongside the success of their wider team

A little more about you

  • A tertiary qualification in procurement or a related discipline will be highly regarded
  • Significant proven relevant experience will be required
  • A Nationally recognized professional procurement accreditation would be advantageous (e.g. CIPS, AAPCM, IACCM)
  • You will be located in Melbourne, or willing and able to relocate to Melbourne immediately
  • At times, you will need the flexibility to work outside of standard hours, or to travel if required
