Megan JamesManaging Consultant - Tasmania

Meet the team

Megan has spent much of her career working in Australia and the Middle East in government and semi-government organisations in senior procurement positions and consulting roles. Her sector experience includes: Education, Nuclear Energy, Tourism and Culture, Defence Industries (manufacturing, MRO, surveillance) and Expo2020 Dubai (construction, attractions and events). She promotes the principles and practices of strategic alignment; modern, world-class procurement and supply chain practices; operational agility, and improving the end user experience.

She has led the set-up, transformation and overhaul of the procurement function for large-scale organisations and projects with significant challenges including: a lack of a clear strategy and roadmap, outdated practices, fraud and supply chain risks, skills and capability gaps, lack of spend visibility, poor data management and reporting capabilities, ineffective category strategy, operational silos, duplication and waste, poor performance and stakeholder dissatisfaction.

Successful transformation has been achieved by building an internal case for change and designing, planning and implementing the transformation. Many projects have required assessing procurement teams’ functional fitness, improving stakeholder and external supplier collaboration, adopting a customer-centric approach, developing category management practices, overhauling data management and systems and restructuring organisational design.

Megan has a thorough knowledge of all the practical and operational aspects of procurement and supply chain and experience in hands-on leadership and management of practical procurement operations across a broad array of spend categories, having led teams of up to 30 reports in the workplace. At ArcBlue, Megan works in Consulting, Corporate Certification and Training.

Megan is FCIPS having been awarded as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS UK), as well as being a registered Chartered Procurement Professional. She has a Master’s Degree in Education Innovation, as well as qualifications in Human Resource Management, and Organisational Transformation. She is active in the procurement professional community and has presented at many industry conferences and written for professional publications. Megan was shortlisted as Australian business person of the year (2018) by AusBG (Middle East) and has been a key member of procurement teams awarded over 10 CIPS Supply Management Awards.
